RAW TALENT: Exhibit at the Artist’s CO-OP in the Old Market!

Thirteen local artists and myself have been lucky enough to have been invited to participate in an invitational exhibition at the Artist’s Co-op in the Old Market! The exhibit will run from February 27th through March 30th. There will be a reception at the Gallery Saturday March 8th! So be sure to come out and see some great local artwork and artists, there should be good times for all!

I myself am exhibiting three new never before seen paintings! The first being a small installation piece where I painted the backside of keyboard contact sheets with many different color stripes. I treat the individual pieces as “bricks” and display them as such, filling a corner space in the gallery.
This next piece is a 50″ x 38″ painting entitled Trajectory.

And this final painting is entitled Ideals and Consequences.

All of these “keyboard paintings” are a new experiment for me that I just started at the beginning of the year. I feel lucky to exhibit them so soon, and would like to know what you think about them. So, please come out and see the show if you can!

Bart Vargas has been exploring the artistic potential of trash and recyclable materials for over 10 years. Using pattern, repetition and form, he builds paintings, sculptures, and installations that blur the identity of these everyday materials, transforming them into playful, thought-provoking objects. Vargas is currently attending the graduate sculpture program at the University of Minnesota, in Minneapolis. Where his research will continue to primarily focus on sculpture, painting and installation works created from discarded materials. Vargas received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2007, and has exhibited widely throughout the Midwest. His work can be found in many private, public and corporate collections throughout the United States, Europe and Asia.
